The gentrification of the Wilson L stop has been a long time coming. Its cheap rent prices and proximity to Irving Square Park has made it rife for those with a, shall we say, “starving artist” bent to gravitate toward it. But now that a dog run is coming to the area, it’s officially game over.

A recent transplant to the neighborhood, Rebecca Oblive, a 22-year-old with a chihuahua named Queen Betch, expressed elation over the advent of the dog run. “Now my dog walker can have a nice place to take Queen Betch. She really only deserves the best–just like me.”

Those who aren’t pet owners, however, have indicated some concern over the likelihood of the park transforming into “a playground for animals” and, inevitably, “people with dogs just going there to troll each other.” Whatever the case, it’s clear that Irving Square Park is the new McCarren.
