While Debbie Reynolds has long been an icon of screen, stage and humor, for the Bushwick set, her similar-looking camp counterpart, Angela Lansbury, holds more weight (metaphorically, obviously). As everyone knows, Murder, She Wrote is watched throughout the Bushwick land, particularly by those unemployed and not pretending to freelance.
Thus, is it really any wonder that one of Bushwick’s favorite and only space-themed bars, Jupiter Disco, could mistakenly throw a tribute party in the wake of Deb’s death for Angie instead? No, it is not. In fact, no one really seemed to be upset except other neighborhood media outlets decrying Bushwick as “Mongo City.”
“You know, it was a harmless error–kind of like Sarah Michelle Gellar commenting on Boy George instead of George Michael. But what’s the big deal? Who did it really hurt? Everyone still got drunk and played Murder, She Wrote trivia, which I think is just as good a tribute as any to Debbie Reynolds. May the force be with her,” stated one of Jupiter Disco’s bartenders, Leif Ferrett.
