Many were waiting with bated breath to watch Trevyn Whubeegdeel, the organizer of the Buswhick Art ‘n’ Shit Festival, fall on his ass with shame over not being able to hold a candle to Bushwick Open Studios. But, in fact, what really killed him was not so much the content or execution as the presence of Color Me Bushwick.
The intimate gatherings’ offering of not just free alcohol, but, classily enough, free coffee (and even the kind with latte art!) was too much for Whubeegdeel to contend with, serving up solely art and the promise of BYOB (for select parties only).
“And then they had all these bands. The bands, man. How could I possibly keep people’s eyes on more cerebral art when the sex appeal of music always trumps any other visual medium? Huh? Answer me that,” he demanded as he tousled his already disheveled hair in a frenzy. Needless to day, he knows what kind of ammo to bring to the Art ‘n’ Shit Festival next year. Maybe he can even get Lazy Queen to co-headline with Haybaby the next time around.
