If you live in New York City, there is no need to express how much you loathe Donald Trump. And yet, a new Bushwick-based art show about just this very topic has cropped up. What the coordinator of the event at the Krista Gout Gallery, Marto Quacko, a 36-year-old with no clear background in art, didn’t take into account was that the result would be a reinvention of the plot of the Daria episode, “Arts ‘n’ Crass.”
For those retarded and therefore unfamiliar, this episode consists of sidekick Jane Lane defacing her own art rather than agreeing to have it featured in the show in a state that was altered against her will by “the man” a.k.a. Ms. Li, principal and Helen Morgendorffer nemesis.
In this case, one artist, Urgani Shatawata, a 23-year-old who wanted to do a nudie pinup portrait of Hillary Clinton, but was then later instructed to change the head to Trump’s, decided to spray paint out the face altogether the night of the show (à la Jane). Only problem is, everyone thought it was intentional. Bushwickians think everything is art, after all.
