If you’ve ever been anywhere even remotely near the Myrtle-Broadway stop, then you’ve probably run into someone either going to see a show or a band member playing in a show at Fitness. Lately, the venue/apartment building has come under criticisms from those naive enough to believe that it’s actually a gym. As if Bushwick has venues, restaurants or bars that are succinct and to the point.
Those unfamiliar with the venue assumed that by walking into a space called Fitness, they would be able to gain access to a gym. The owner of the space, Kesha Basement, was getting tired of bro or sorority-type hipsters walking in off the street and asking about the cost of a membership.
In response to this annoyance, Basement has decided to rename the venue to the antithetical title “Languish.” Basement told The Burning Bush, “I hate working out. I always have. The only exercise worth doing is lifting a beer to your mouth. So I don’t know why I ever called this place Fitness.”
