If there’s any “boutique” store in Bushwick with its finger on the pulse of the latest trends, it’s obviously Friends, formerly Mary Meyer and Friends. With that being said, the store is fixing to re-create some of the most memorable looks from last weekend’s Full Moon Festival on the elusive Governors Island–which, still, confusingly, is not where the Governors Ball takes place.
“We know a lot of Bushwickians went to celebrate their style and love of drugs at the Full Moon Festival, and we just want to honor that with what we have to offer at our store,” stated one of the store’s employees Faucet Dor, a 29-year-old of no distinct origin. Some of the looQs for sale will include chainmail halters and bandanas designed specifically for tying around one’s thigh.
“The festival might have been in ‘East Williamsburg’ last year, but it’s definitely got more of a ‘Manhattan’ flavor this year, which is kind of what Bushwick needs to take itself out of itself, if you know what I mean,” concluded Dor. Be sure to check out Friends for key pieces from the festival that will soon be seasonally irrelevant.
