Maybe you’ve noticed by now that the illicit foreigner bar known as Hail Hail, nestled inside (an evocative phrase, to be sure) of New York Loft Hostel, has an addition, called The Basement. This supplement to the non-Bushwickian hours of Hail Hail, open from 10 p.m to 1 a.m., is intended to keep the party at NY Loft Hostel going all night.
“This is clearly just a means to get our guest to spend more money. I also think it’s some sort of homage to John Wayne Gacy,” said our favorite New York Loft Hostel employee, Ivana Killmyself. The Basement, which acts as both music venue and bar, serves to get guests all riled up so they’ll spend more money at Hail Hail, which seems more exclusive because of its limited hours.
Killmyself continued, “I’ve seen a lot of weirdos get weirder because of The Basement gettin’ them all juiced up for Hail Hail and vice versa. It’s a volatile combination, and I don’t know why I still work here.” But perhaps Killmyself can get a job at Blue Bottle: Full Throttle.
