One of those “sleeper” stops in Bushwick, Dekalb (though it possesses nothing like the desolation of Halsey) has managed to stay somewhat off the radar in terms of development thanks, in part, to the endless pillaging of the territory surrounding Jefferson Street–which is already so close to Dekalb.

But alas, no street can remain unturned in this town. That’s why Himrod is up for a huge retooling, especially with regard to a certain Opalescent Glassworks factory. The developers for the space–those illustrious Fountainhead brothers–are planning to not only transform the building into a condo, but also a mini mall beneath the ten or so stories above it.

“We don’t know what’s going to be in the mall yet. Maybe another Mary Meyer and a Converse store. All we know is that the liquor license will be approved for the space long before we actually lease out the square footage for each store,” commented Horatio Fountainhead. The building is expected to open in late 2016 and will be called The Himrod Haven. Apartments will start at $4,000 for a studio.
