Before we even had a chance to really get to know Associated’s City Fresh Market, it was “closed due to fire.” But considering the nature of fires and foul play in this neighborhood, The Burning Bush had a hunch it was something more than just your run of the mill char. After months of being closed, local private eyes and police alike have begun launching an investigation into why the establishment has really been kaput for so long.
Both the owner and manager of the store have been M.I.A. ever since the incident, making the smell of misconduct even more potent. One of the lead detectives in the investigation, Humphrey Chandler, a 39-year-old ex-convict from New Hampshire, gave what little information he had sparingly, stating, “All we know at this time is that murder may or may not be involved.”
A mysterious envelope (see above) filled with drugs was also found at what is likely a crime scene. No one knows if the abandoned store has now become a dropoff point for Bushwick drug dealers or if it was somehow related to the “fire” that prompted the business to close down. As further details become available, The Burning Bush will keep you posted. In the meantime, we’re sad to say you’ll have to force yourself to go to the next closest grocery store: the C-Town on Flushing Avenue.
