Amid new, better constructed bars like Koda on Flushing, Wreck Room has, once and for all, reached its demise. The bar was previously shut down because of a “rodent” and “plumbing” problem (an interrelated issue, no doubt) and reopened, but alas, it cannot survive this ever-changing tableau of thrift store conglomerates and  shopping malls. There is no longer a place in Bushwick for the dive bar.

The tear-filled owner of the longtime Bushwick staple, Lenny Badapple, stated, “I can’t believe this day is finally here. Between the competition of bars with bathrooms you can actually piss in and drinks that are something other than a beer/shot combo or well drinks that taste like lighter fluid, we can’t stay afloat anymore.”

The dubious ellipsis will greet us no more.

When Miley Cyrus, who is also in the unofficially titled group called the “Bushdicks”–a Bushwick version of the Brat Pack–heard of the news, she immediately offered to sing “Wrecking Ball” for posterity. The wrecking will take place on Tuesday night, June 17th at 10 p.m. Be there if you’re any kind of true Bushwick socialite.
