You’ve probably passed by New Images Unisex near the Montrose stop once or twice in your day, most likely after slinking away from the Bushwick Hotel. For the wayward man or woman in need of a shave or haircut, seeing it shuttered day after day has caused many a pained expression/unkempt appearance. But now, people with closedbusinessophobia (usually known as real estate agents) can rejoice: the Fountainhead brothers are coming to the rescue again by buying the building and somewhat preserving the original integrity of the name.
Nude Images Unisex will be an interactive art space focusing on all mediums featuring some form of nakedness (hairless animals included). “We know this area is very fond of art and nudity–just look at the Fuchs Gallery,” noted Henry Fountainhed. His brother, Horatio, added, “I just couldn’t stand the damned sight of that unused building anymore. Henry’s the one who knows what to turn things into. I just pony up the dough.”
Enthusiasm from local artists has already materialized in the form of a line outside the door to personally apply for a spot on the wall. While the gallery’s curator, Jamone Tasteleese, a 25-year-old with an online Art History degree, has only accepted one 80s-esque painting thus far, she is open to an eclectic mix of styles. She stated, “While I don’t always know what I’m looking for, I know it when I see it.” So your chances are just as good as anyone else’s. Even if you fancy the stick figure nude.
