The more popular a place becomes, the more likely it is to have a Barbie named in its honor (Malibu anyone?). And so, it comes as no great amazement that an off-brand version of Mattel, Fattel, has announced plans to release a Bushwick Barbie called Bushay. The spokesperson for the company, DeWayne Shyboi, gave The Burning Bush some faint insight into what Bushay represents and how she’s different from “regular” Barbie.

“Bushay isn’t just another white blonde girl looking to get railed,” said Shyboi. “She’s an independent spirit who’s ready to take on anything–even the occasional hair pulling or splooge in the face. She knows what she wants and she goes after it.” The early prototype of Bushay shows her from the face up with a fly on her cheek, an obvious nod to Bushwick’s propensity toward foul odors. So far, we don’t see much of a difference between this and the usual Barbie, but Shyboi promises that the bottom half looks like a combination of Lena Dunham and Penn Badgley. So… a toady body with weird, expensive pants? Stay tuned for more details on this exciting new addition to Bushwick-related pop culture!
