The pizza game in Bushwick is a competitive one. From low-brow fare like Little Caesar’s to drunk havens like Archie’s, each and every one of these pizza establishments must compete with the crown jewel of the neighborhood, Roberta’s. The latest in the never-ending arsenal of challengers is OMG Pizza, located on Myrtle Avenue between Central Avenue and Cedar Street. Unlike other pizza joints, OMG has a unique marketing plan: an illuminati-inspired logo and an esoteric beverage selection.
The owner of OMG, Reese Nohscill, an 18-year-old who asked for a business for her birthday, told The Burning Bush, “I like pizza so I thought I’d open a place and name it after my favorite abbreviation. The logo was made by a friend of mine who has been studying marketing and branding at Brooklyn College. So far, it seems to be getting a positive response. It’s like she brainwashed everyone into coming here or something.”
As for the unusual variety of drinks to choose from, Nohscill explained, “Oh yeah, I think I was just really high the day I created that menu.” Nonetheless, OMG offers two things that no other pizza place in Bushwick does, and surely that’s got to give them some kind of edge in their unintentional business model.
