The advent of Talon Bar on Wyckoff Avenue and Menahan Street has thrown down the proverbial gauntlet/claw in terms of bars with a distinct focus on an avian themes. As for original player, The Rookery, well, let’s just say the management is freaking the fuck out over the implications over two bird-dueling bars in the neighborhood.

“We didn’t want it to have to come to this, but we will actually bring out a shit ton of rooks and release them from a cage or some shit to prove that we’re the more ‘birdly’ of the two bars, okay?” insisted current owner Bobby Pajaro, a 41-year-old from Scarsdale.

Talon Bar’s manager, Curly Fetheer, a 31-year-old from New Haven, however, showed no signs of being threatened as he added yet another genuine bird talon to the decor behind the bar. “I think our beer/shot special, the ‘Bye Bye Birdy,’ speaks for itself, okay?” So which bird bar will it be for you? Or will you just stay home doing shots to Birdman every time the drummer comes on?
