While loud whisperings about basic bitches have gradually become quieter, there has emerged from the ashes a new “basique.” She is very much the same as the original basic bitch but with stronger veneers intended to mask it. She also has the tendency to live in Bushwick. She is a “creator” of some sort and takes pride in her “distinct style.”
She wants you to know that she’s different. And yet, in cultivating her “differentness,” she is just the same as all the other basiques with a Pinterest board of reclaimed furniture and wine bottles that have been converted into vases with dead roses. She usually gravitates toward the new Bushwick millionaire type, loves going to brunch with him during undefined times of the day and occasionally makes money off of “crafts” she sells on Etsy or at Artists & Fleas.
Similar to girls who are the Bushwick punchline (except less employable), the new basique is never aware of her basicness and will staunchly cling to the notion that she is nothing at all like the “real normals.” No, no, in all her ignorant waifishness, she cannot see herself as she actually is: utterly basique.
