Whether it’s because no one drives in New York (or at least more people take the subway/hoof it) or simply the unquenchable desire for the presence of chain enterprises as demanded by migrated Southerners, Miswesterners and West Coasters, a Popeyes and a 24-hour Dunkin’ Donuts will be opening in place of Wow Carwash at the corner of Flushing Avenue and Knickerbocker Avenue.
Halal Nadir, a 34-year-old who owns a number of franchises throughout the North Brooklyn area, told The Burning Bush, “I seized the chance to take advantage of Wow Carwash’s fledgling business. Space like that comes but once–maybe twice in a lifetime–and I’m going to reap the benefits in a big way.”
Nadir also saw the goldmine of bringing such entities to the neighborhood in large part to the alcoholic need to purchase such foods while drunk at 2 a.m. Nonetheless, the Popeyes and Dunkin’ Donuts will be given your average Bushwick spin: artisanal donuts at Dunkin’ and free range chicken served at Popeyes. You didn’t think just any chain could be let into the area, did you?
