As The Burning Bush previously reported, Zosia Mamet initially barreled through town with stars in her eyes over a neighborhood that was to be the promised land. After all, it seemed so shiny and appealing on Girls. She even tried to get into the spirit of things by throwing a massive housewarming party and inviting everyone in Bushwick. But the only people who showed up were Penn Badgley and Domino Kirke. Nonetheless, this wasn’t the reason Mamet ultimately decided to jump Bushwick’s ship.
Sources close to the “star” told The Burning Bush, “Mamet was experiencing a lot of trauma from the lack of amenities not just in the building, but in all of Bushwick.” Even though the neighborhood has done its best to bouge out with Forrest Point, Hops & Hocks and promises of Perrier, these offerings were not enough for the daughter of David Mamet. Accustomed to luxury no Bushwickian can even imagine, it’s a wonder she didn’t flip the building a week after she bought it.
Others speculate that Mamet’s decision to flee Bushwick was due to needing quick cash as Girls will be ending sooner rather than later (what with Lena Dunham’s burning success with her book) and Mamet wants to preemptively start accruing as much money as possible so she doesn’t have to worry about finding another job later. However, I think we all know that Mamet wasn’t ready to hack it in a neighborhood where snuff movies are made.
